Privacy Policy

Effective date: January 2025. We collect only what we need and use it only to serve you.

1. Who We Are

The African Economics Research & Development Center (AERDC), operating at AfricanEconomics.org, is responsible for this website and the personal data it processes. If you have questions about this policy, contact us at privacy@africaneconomics.org.

2. What Data We Collect

We collect only the data you provide voluntarily through our contact forms, training registration forms, or donation enquiries: your name, email address, organisation, country, and message content. We do not collect sensitive personal data. We use analytics tools to collect aggregate traffic data (page views, device types) — this data does not identify individual visitors.

3. How We Use Your Data

We use your contact information solely to respond to your enquiry or process your training or donation request. We do not use your data for marketing without your explicit consent. Aggregate analytics data is used to improve the website and understand our audience.

4. Data Sharing

We do not sell or share your personal data with third parties for marketing purposes. We may share your data with service providers (email service, analytics) strictly to deliver the service. All providers are contractually required to protect your data.

5. Payments

Donation payments are processed by our third-party payment provider. We do not receive or store your card number, CVV, or other raw payment details. Payment transactions are governed by the payment provider's own privacy policy.

6. Data Retention

Enquiry and registration data is retained for 24 months from the date of submission, after which it is deleted unless an ongoing relationship requires continued retention. You may request deletion at any time.

7. Your Rights

You have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data at any time. You may also object to how we use your data or request a copy of it. To exercise these rights, email privacy@africaneconomics.org.

8. Cookies

We use only essential cookies required for the website to function. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies. Our analytics tool is configured to respect user privacy and does not build individual profiles.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy as our practices evolve. Material changes will be noted on this page with an updated effective date. We encourage you to review this page periodically.

10. Contact

For privacy questions or to exercise your rights, contact us at privacy@africaneconomics.org or through the Contact page. We aim to respond within 5 business days.
